Who are we? Bradford City Centre Residents Association (BCCRA). Is a not-for-profit organisation run on community development principles. We are not aware of any other Residents Association in the country that represents an entire city centre. |
Who BRRCA represents We adopted the Bradford Urban Regeneration boundary in June 2008. There are presently in excess of 1,000 local residents, with a predicted ten-fold increase by 2015 [Community Pride, Nov. 2006]. City living in Bradford is dominated by the 20 to 39 age group, particularly single people and co-habiting couples [KnightFrank, 2007]. Many BD1 residents are educated professionals, although the student population is not insignificant [www.upmystreet.com]. |
How long have we been established? The initial meetings were held in February 2008; since then we have elected officers, agreed a name, logo and constitution and sought funding. BCCRA intends to host an official launch event later in the year. |
BCCRA’s primary purpose Initially to increase awareness of our existence amongst the local population, thereby becoming the ‘voice’ of city centre residents. BCCRA aims to create a sense of community in the city living environment, and hopes to benefit from our diverse cultural heritage. |
